Mysore/Mysuru: Guru Purnima was celebrated at Sharath Yoga Centre, a prominent Ashtanga Yoga institute in the city on July 13.

Over 200 students from various nationalities gathered at the Centre, located in Hebbal, to pay their respects to the Ashtanga Yoga Guru Sharath Jois.

Students said this Guru Purnima was especially important to them due to the COVID-19 pandemic that had prevented them from visiting their teacher in Mysuru for the last two years.

After the morning rituals of puja and aarti, Sharath Jois addressed the gathering by emphasising the importance of a spiritual guru to guide people caught up in the delusions of the world out of their miseries.

Students presented various cultural art forms of their countries and offered flowers to the teacher before the celebrations concluded.
