Mysuru: Marking Hindi Diwas, the Department of Hindi, Maharani’s Arts College, had organised a function at the college premises here recently. Two books ‘Badukuva Dari’ translated from Hindi and a Hindi book ‘Jnanpith Se Sammanith Krishna Sobathi’ were also released on the occasion.
Speaking after releasing the books, retired Principal of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, Dr. H.M. Kumaraswamy opined that Hindi has words taken from many other Indian languages. He observed that of late, the people were too obsessed with English and said that English was essential as a communication language across the world. However, he cautioned that the obsession should not neglect Indian languages.
College Principal C.H. Prakash, HoD of Hindi and author of the book ‘Badukuva Dari’ Dr. V. Sowbhagyalakshmi, Assistant Professor and author of the Hindi book Dr. Shalivahana B. Kollur and others were present.
