- Over 35,000 students to appear at 50 centres in Mysuru district under CCTV camera surveillance
- KSRTC to provide free bus travel on all days of examinations from Mar. 1 to Mar. 20
Mysuru: With the II PUC examinations for the academic year 2024-25 scheduled to take place across the State from tomorrow (Mar.1), the Mysuru District Administration has made all arrangements for smooth conduct of the exams for over 35,000 students at 50 centres across the district, including 27 in Mysuru city alone.
The marking of registration numbers of students was done at all the centres this morning. Also, CCTV cameras have been installed in all the 50 centres and webcasting arrangement has been made at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office, where 10 staff members have been deputed to keep constant watch of the cameras for any exam malpractices.
Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Deputy Director of PU Education (DDPUE) M. Mariswamy said that mobile and stationary squads have been formed for monitoring the conduct of the exams in the city and district.
The question papers have been kept in safe custody at the District Treasury, from where they will be dispatched to all the centres through 10 marked routes tomorrow morning.
Also, all the vehicles carrying the question papers have been installed with GPS system, he said adding that measures have been taken for uninterrupted distribution of question papers to all the centres.
Ahead of the exam, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy held a meeting with top officials of PUE Department and other concerned Departments at Zilla Panchayat Auditorium here this morning to discuss measures taken for ensuring smooth and incident-free conduct of the exams. The DC instructed the officials to give no scope for any malpractices and to ensure that drinking water and other such amenities are in adequate quantity at the exam centres.
Over 35,000 students (Science, Commerce and Arts streams together) from across the district are appearing for the exams which will be held only in the morning session (10 am to 1 pm) on all specified dates.
Out of the total 35,382 students, 32,684 are freshers, 1,650 repeaters and 1,028 privately registered students. Girl students have outnumbered boys, with 18,004 being girl students and 14,680 boy students.
Also, Science stream constitute the maximum number of students with 14,050, followed by Commerce stream with 11,292 students and Arts stream with 7,342 students.
The exams will begin with Kannada and Arabic papers on Mar.1 and will conclude with Hindi paper on Mar.20.
Ban orders
Meanwhile, Police have enforced prohibitory orders in 200 metres radius around all the 27 examination centres in city from Mar. 1 to Mar. 20.
Accordingly, barring the examinees and the exam staff, no unauthorised persons will be allowed entry to the exam centres and carrying of objectionable articles around the centres is strictly banned.
Also, all Photocopy shops and browsing centres in the vicinity of the exam centres are asked to shut down during exam hours on all dates of the exam, according to a press release.
Free bus travel for PUC and SSLC exam students
The KSRTC will provide free bus travel for students appearing for II PU exams (Mar.1 to 20) and the SSLC exams (Mar.21 to Apr.4). Accordingly, the students can travel in KSRTC buses from the bus stop near their house to designated exam centres for free on all dates of the exams. The students are required to show their hall ticket as proof, according to a KSRTC release.
SP N.Vishnuvardhana said that officials should have the numbers of the jurisdictional DySP, Inspector and Sub-Inspectors of police stations. Stating that Police personnel have been deployed as per the Route Map, he said that adequate number of cops have been deputed for security at exam centres.
Additional DC Dr. P. Shivaraju in his address, said that the teams which are assigned for collecting exam papers from the District Treasury, should be at the Treasury at the specified time. The CESC officials must ensure uninterrupted power supply at all exam centres during exam hours, he said adding that officials who are on exam duty should maintain punctuality and report for duty well on time at the exam centres.
ZP CEO S. Ukesh Kumar, DCP (Law and Order) M. Muthuraju, DDPUE Mariswamy, DDPI S.T. Javaregowda and other officials were present at the meeting.
