New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, have emerged as top educational institutions of the country.
IIT Madras has topped in overall NIRF Rankings, followed by IISc., Bangalore in second position, IIT Delhi third, IIT Mumbai fourth and IIT, Kanpur fifth.
Among the University section, IISc., Bangalore has topped, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the second spot and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) third position. Jadhavpur University, Kolkata, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and University of Hyderabad, have secured later positions.
Ministry of Education (MoE) had placed a draft report proposing major overhauls in accreditation system for Higher Educational Institutions in the public domain. The report was formulated by an Overarching Committee constituted by MoE and chaired by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Council.
