The Jodi Tenginamara Road in Bannimantap, which recently got a facelift after being neglected for years, now lacks street-lights.
This road, which connects Highway Circle with Hanumanthanagar, is an important link road of the city and lack of street-lights has made the travel unsafe during nights.
Even as the road was widened to meet the demands of heavy traffic, the authorities seem to have forgotten the importance of street-lights. In the absence of street-lights, pedestrians are having a difficult time to walk along or cross the road in the dark. The lightings of the shops along the road is the only light that the pedestrians can depend upon.
The other problem faced by pedestrians is the absence of footpath along the road. Although drainages have been constructed on both sides of the road, the authorities have ignored providing space for the footpath. As such, the pedestrians have to be very much wary while walking along the stretch in the absence of street-lights.
Since a long stretch of this road does not have speed-breakers, motorists and vehicles travel in high speeds, often posing danger to pedestrians. As such, the authorities must take measures to install street-lights and also erect scientific speed-breakers wherever necessary, in the better interests of both motorists and pedestrians.
