KAS Officer files plaint against 4 IAS officers alleging harassment

May 25, 2017

Bengaluru: Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) Officer K. Mathai has filed a complaint before the Karnataka Lokayukta against four IAS Officers for allegedly harassing him. He has alleged that ‘IAS mafia’ has been harassing him and has named four IAS officers — two Additional Chief Secretaries and two Principal Secretary-rank officials — in  his complaint.

Mathai had submitted the complaint to Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia on April 10, and yesterday, he submitted it to Lokayukta Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty. “The Lokayukta has jurisdiction over grievance redressal in the State. Since there is no separate grievance redressal forum for Government officials, I had to seek redressal from the Lokayukta,” he said, defending his action.

Mathai, who is currently the Administrative Officer and Under-Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, also sought an appointment with Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in reference to corruption charges and intentional harassment by the IAS officers — Kalpana, M. Laxmi Narayana, T.K. Anil Kumar and E.V. Ramana Reddy.

In his complaint, Mathai has listed a series of instances of how he was being targeted and harassed — multiple transfers, salary being held up, and not being given a vehicle in his present posting. He has alleged that the harassment was a result of exposing a senior IAS officer’s role in an illegal advertisement scam in Bengaluru in 2015.

“I have filed a complaint against four IAS officers regarding various issues including harassment, I underwent by senior officers. I have submitted a 101-page complaint before the Chief Secretary. I have sought another appointment with him to further discuss these issues,” Mathai told reporters yesterday.
