Legislative Council by-poll on Feb.17

The by-poll to the lone vacant seat of the Karnataka Legislative Council will be held on Feb.17. The ruling BJP has fielded Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, while Anil Kumar has filed his papers as JD(S) supported independent candidate. The Congress is yet to take a clear stand on supporting Anil Kumar. The by-poll has been necessitated after the resignation of Rizwan Arshad of the Congress, who was elected as MLA from Shivajinagar Assembly segment in the by-poll held on Dec. 5 last.
