Mysuru: Recognising her contribution to music and literature, Vidushi Dr. Geetha Seetharam, Director, Geethanjali School of Fine Arts, Mysuru, was conferred with ‘Lipi Pragne’ Award at the 54th Music Conference organised by The Bangalore Gayana Samaja in Bengaluru recently.
Sri Yadugiri Yathiraj Narayana Jeeyar Swamiji graced the occasion.
Dr. Geetha Seetharam of Mysuru joined CFTRI as a Librarian in 1978 and retired as Chief Librarian. Developing a keen interest in Music and Arts, she has the credit of creating six new Ragas.
She has several books to her credit including ‘Naada Nudi Sourabha’ (with 101 compositions) published by Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy, Bengaluru. She also has ten musical DVDs to her credit, all composed and sung by her. She has scripted 6 plays and written ten novels, six translated books, travelogue, etc. She has won many awards and prizes, including ‘Natya Sahitya Sharade’ title in 2017.
