Mysore/Mysuru: A man accused of harassing his wife has been sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 by city’s V Additional Senior Civil Judge (ASCJ) Court.
The man, who was convicted by the Court is Kumar, a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in city.
On Aug. 30, 2009, Kumar’s wife had lodged a complaint at the Women’s Police Station alleging that her husband used to come home drunk, assault her and threaten her with life.
The then Sub-Inspector Devamma, who had registered a case, conducted an investigation and had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.
Judge A.C. Dayanand Murthy, who heard the arguments from both sides on Jan. 16, 2023, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to two years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000. If Kumar fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo an additional six months simple imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs. 2,500.
