Mandya: ‘To celebrate Dasara festival in a methodical way at Srirangapatna which has a rich historical background, the officers concerned should gear up the preparations now’ said Mandya DC N. Manjushri.

Chairing a meeting on that context at ZP office here recently, Manjushri said that Srirangapatna Dasara will be held from Oct.16 to 18 and added that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and other dignitaries would participate in the inaugural function. She asked the officials to add more grandeur for the Dasara procession by including tableaux of 10 departments along with an array of folk troupes.

Continuing, the DC said that as per the tradition, the procession would be launched after offering puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari at Bannimantap at Kirangur village in Srirangapatna taluk. She added that contemplation was on to bring the Dasara elephants to take out a   Jumboo Savari.

Manjushri asked the officials to properly organise cultural programmes near Sriranganathaswamy Temple besides asking  the Police Department to provide adequate security arrangements.

Manjushri released the poster of Srirangapatna Dasara-2018 on the occasion. SP Shivaprakash, Additional DC B.P. Vijay, ZP Deputy Secretary Krishnaraju, Assistant Commissioner Shailaja, Tahsildar Nagesh and others attended the meeting.
