Mysuru: Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru, as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations, conducted  month-long social activities at various institutions across city.

The Hospital had organised health check up at the Government Deaf and Dumb School on July 6 where 82 children were screened. Col. Rahul Tewari and Anantha Gowda, HR General Manager of Jubilant Generics, were the chief guests. A complete health screening for the kids was held and they were advised about the do’s and don’ts for a healthy lifestyle.

On July 8, Dr. Madhura Phatak, Consultant OBG and Anusha, Dietician, Columbia Asia Hospital, delivered a talk on ‘Adolescent Health’ at Sneha Kirana Spastic Society. In all, 30 parents and 32 students participated. The children were educated about what is essential to lead a good healthy life and how to take care of themselves and the society.

A talk on ‘Hand Hygiene and Healthy Lifestyle’ was held Government School, Vontikoppal and Government High School, Hinkal, on July 4 and 17 for 150 students which was delivered by Dr. Chethan, Paediatrician and Veronica, Infection Control Nurse.

Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques was conducted at Siddarthanagar Traffic Police Station on July 15 for Police personnel. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Upendra Shenoy said that  one does not need a medical degree to save a precious life and added that with simple knowledge about BLS techniques, it can go a long way in saving lives in emergency situations.

“During the time of any emergency including accidents, it is the Police who usually are the first to reach an accident spot. Providing basic life support during the crucial hour can help in saving precious lives or major damages. It is extremely crucial that Traffic Police are well aware of basic life support techniques and handle emergency before the ambulance reaches the spot. Thus it is vital for all to learn the basic life support techniques so that we can take the right measures when required,” said Dr. Anil Kumar, Consultant Emergency Medicine, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru.

“We are proud to complete 10 years of service to Mysureans. We have started as secondary care centre in Mysuru and now we are catering to all tertiary care from Interventional Cardiology to Organ Transplant, Complicated Heart Surgeries, Endovascular Neurosurgery and many more,” said Col.
