‘Mooka Spandane’ campaign to feed animals, birds in summer

Mysore/Mysuru: Former Chairman of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) H.V. Rajeev has appealed people to come to the aid of animals and birds in summer by providing water and food to them in summer.

He spoke after inaugurating ‘Mooka Spandane,’ a campaign to feed water to animals and birds organised at Tagadur Ramachandra Rao Park, Chamundipuram, in city yesterday.

“Animals and birds are the companion of man and they co-exist in the society. However, there will be a vary in availability of water and food during summer in the wake of drought situation. The animals and birds, which have turned urban areas into their habitat, face a severe water crisis. In this wake, the two-month campaign organised by KMPK Charitable Trust assumes significance. The general public should also join hands by keeping water and food for birds on the terrace of their house that will ensure their existence,” advised Rajeev.

Trust President Vikram Iyengar underlined the cooperation of public for the campaign, by keeping a water tank to feed animals and birds and hanging water pots and food plates to the tree.

Ramprasad, hotelier Suresh, Vice-President of Sri Krishnarajendra Cooperative Bank Basavaraj Basappa, former Member of Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) Jyothi Rechanna, leaders Kadakola Jagadish, President of Ahila Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat Mysuru Unit Chandrashekar, Rakesh, Mirle Phaneesh, Suchendra, Vidya, Nagashri, Dayanand, Myla Vijaykumar and others were present.
