PFA Mysuru rescues four new-borns
Mysuru: People For Animals (PFA), Mysuru, has responded to a distress call to rescue a community dog that had been bitten by a Russell’s Viper recently at the foot of Chamundi Hill.
The mother dog, which had recently given birth to four puppies, displayed immense courage as she defended her young ones from the venomous snake.
In a desperate attempt to protect her puppies, the dog bit the snake’s tail, but the viper retaliated with a severe bite near her eyes, resulting in heavy bleeding.
Despite PFA’s swift response, with their veterinarian and staff arriving within 10 minutes armed with anti-poly venom, the mother dog tragically succumbed to the bite before they could intervene.
While the mother could not be saved, PFA managed to rescue the four new-born puppies, which were found with their eyes still closed. The organisation is now caring for the pups and ensuring they find loving homes when they are old enough, approximately in six weeks.
