Nanjangud-Gundlupet By-polls: 14 candidates file nomination  in N’gud, 9 in Gundlupet

Yesterday being the last day for filing of the nomination papers for the ensuing Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly By-elections, a total of 14 candidates have filed their nomination papers from the Nanjangud Assembly Constituency and 9 candidates from Gundlupet Assembly Constituency.

The by-polls, which is being considered as a prestige issue for BJP and Congress, also witnessed candidates from Republican Party of India and few Independent candidates filing their nominations. However, the JD(S) is not fielding candidates for the by-polls for which the voting is scheduled on Apr. 9.

The final list of candidates will be announced only after the scrutiny of the nomination papers (Mar. 22) and late date for withdrawal (Mar.24) are completed.
