Mysuru: “The purpose of holding national seminars is to create awareness among students about various opportunities available after graduation and to promote entrepreneurial learning in the Pharma curriculum,” said JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research Registrar Dr. B. Manjunath.
He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day national-level seminar on ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management in Pharma Industry’ organised by the Department of Pharmaceutics of Farooqia College of Pharmacy, at Aiwan-e-Azeez Sait auditorium here recently.
“The Pharma graduates can become self-reliant and self-dependent and get inspired for self employment in their early career besides encouraging them for skill development and skill India concept,” he said.
Dr. Md. Salahuddin, Principal and convener of the seminar, encouraged students to listen to the lectures and guidance of experts and learn from them.
Prof. M. Sayeed Ahmed, Trustee, RMET, Mysuru, presided.
Dr. M. Manjunath, HoD, Pharmaceutics and Organising Secretary of the seminar, welcomed.
Dr. C.S. Lakshmeesha, Group Leader, Research and Development, Strides Shasun Ltd., Bengaluru, an academician-cum-scientist, gave an insight on how science can be a source to entrepreneurship.
He explained by giving a live example of a company making of Rs.1,200 per kg bulk drug in a Rs.520 crore product market through lyophilisation of a drug.
Dr. Krathish Bopanna, President and CEO, Semler Research, Bengaluru, Sunil S. Chiplunkar, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), Jagdale Lifesciences, Bengaluru and Dr. Sriharsha, Managing Director, Bhuvika Health Care Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, all spoke about various aspects of pharma industry.
Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Umesh Baikunje, Founder, Baikunje Consultancy, Bengaluru, Amanulla Khan, Gen. Secretary, Mysore District Chemists & Druggists Association and Nazir Ahmed, Founder, Chairman and CEO at Onespot Nexusinfo Pvt.Ltd., Bengaluru, were present.
Around 150 delegates from various colleges of Karnataka like JSS College of Pharmacy, Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy and Dayanand Sagar College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru, attended the seminar.
