Mysuru: In an effort to promote environmental sustainability, the 1 Karnataka Artillery Battery NCC, Mysuru, had organised a tree plantation drive with the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ at St. Philomena’s College in city on the occasion of Republic Day recently. The event saw participation from cadets, faculty members and students, who collectively contributed in making the campus greener.
This event emphasised the importance of trees in combating climate change and creating a healthier environment for future generations. This event was carried out in the presence of Col. Vivek Savangouder, Officer Commanding, 1 KAR ARTY BTY, NCC Mysuru, Sub. Maj. K. Chinna Rao, Rev. Fr. Dr. Lourdu Prasad, Rector, St. Philomena’s College, Dr. Ravi J.D. Saldanha, Principal, St. Philomena’s College, B. Francis Devasahayam, Caretaking Officer, staff and Cadets of 1 KAR ARTY BTY NCC, Mysuru.
A total of 30 saplings, including fruit-bearing, medicinal and native species, were planted across the campus and the cadets pledged to nurture and care for the saplings, ensuring their growth and long-term survival.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation. The plantation drive concluded with the singing of the national anthem, symbolising unity and a shared vision for a greener India.
