Copies of question papers sold by four accused for Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 32 lakh

Patna: Amid the raging protests over the leak of question paper of National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-2024 conducted on May 5 this year, a student, who had appeared for the test, has admitted to be a part of the crime along with his uncle.

In his confession statement made before Patna Police, 22-year-old Anurag Yadav has stated that “My uncle had told me to come over to Bastipur in Bihar from Kota in Rajasthan, where I was staying then, saying that  all arrangements have been taken care of.”

Anurag Yadav’s uncle Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu is an engineer at Danapur Town Council in Bihar. He had allegedly given the NEET Question Paper on the eve of NEET on May 4, to his nephew telling him to prepare for the same, along with the answers provided to him, according to Anurag’s statement.

“After returning from Kota, my uncle had taken me to Amit Anand and Nitish Kumar, where I was given the Question Paper and Answer Sheet. They told me to study throughout the night and remember the answers. My exam centre was at D.Y. Patil School,” said Anurag.

When tallied with the Q-paper received on the day of NEET, the contents were similar to the question paper, he had got before hand, Anurag has stated further, admitting to be a part                                  of the crime.

Meanwhile, all the four accused arrested in the case — Anurag Yadav, his uncle Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu, Amit Anand and Nitish Kumar — are suspected to be the master minds behind leaking the question paper.

According to sources, the accused had sold the copies of question papers for Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 32 lakh to the aspirants.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that “With the arrests made from Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana, it is clear that there was an organised racket involved in corruption related to NEET, with BJP-ruled States being the sources of Q-paper leak.”
