New Bus Stand at Bannimantap: An appeal to CM Siddaramaiah

July 18, 2025

Sir,

I am writing to appeal to our Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, to postpone the foundation stone laying of the proposed Bus Station at Bannimantap and change the location.

Since Bannimantap is located at the Northern tip of Mysuru, it is more inconvenient than convenient for the citizens of the Southern, Eastern and Western parts of the district.

The new bus station will be about 12 kms away from the people of the Southern district, which will be an unnecessary burden for the citizens of the Southern district.

The Central Bus Station should be shifted to J.K. Grounds opposite the Railway Station or the RMC premises behind the Railway Station.

The existing Medical College may be shifted to the KSRTC land in Bannimantap, and the area around the Railway Station should be built on the majestic model of Bengaluru, which would be beneficial for the passengers and the people of the four directions of Mysuru.

This would increase the income by converting the existing Central Bus Station and City Bus Station into a commercial complex, and by doing this, the traffic in the Central City would be significantly reduced, the traditional buildings would also be preserved, and since all three stations are located in one place, tourism would also be given a boost.

Central and City Bus Stations can be built next to the Railway Station and Bengaluru route buses can reach via Sayyaji Rao Road. Buses on Hunsur Road route will reach Hunsur Road next to Metropole Hotel  via Railway Station Circle.

Nanjangud-Kollegal-T.Narasipur route buses will travel via JLB Road, through Yelethota Circle or via 100 Feet Road in front of the South Gate of Palace and reach Nanjangud Road while buses on Malavalli-Kanakapura route can reach Bannur Road via Sayyaji Rao Road  via Ring Road.

Better results could be achieved if the roads are widened at some of the above routes. This will significantly reduce traffic at K.R. Circle, Hardinge Circle, in front of the Mysore Palace, in front of the MCC Office and Irwin Road.

Since the Chief Minister is from Mysuru, I request him to reconsider, postpone the foundation laying ceremony, think scientifically, change the venue, take a decision and facilitate both the citizens and tourists.
