NIE to host five-day IDE Boot Camp from Jan. 29

Mysore/Mysuru: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Union Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) in association with Wadhwani Foundation will be jointly organising “Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Boot Camp Phase-II” at the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, said NIE Principal Dr. Rohini Nagapadma, here this morning.

Addressing the media persons at the Patrakarthara Bhavan, she said that the initiative, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to nurture the Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurial skills of student innovators and innovation ambassadors from higher education institutes and schools.

“The IDE Boot camps will be conducted simultaneously across 10 locations in India. More than 3000 Student Innovators and Innovation Ambassadors from Higher Education Institutes, Schools and J&K and Ladakh will be expected to participate at 10 locations. The NIE, Mysuru has been chosen as the only nodal centre in Karnataka for hosting the event out of 10 centres across India. A total of 347 delegates from all over the country will be visiting NIE to take part in the event out of which 190 students are the winners of Smart India Hackathon-2023 (SIH-2023), 115 participants from Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Yojana (PM-USPY) – Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K and Ladakh including 42 Faculty Mentors,” she added.

The five-day event focuses on training the participants towards developing various skills such as Design Thinking towards problem solving contexts, Preparing Business Plans, Understanding Customer Personas, Product Design and Ergonomics, Lean Canvas Sketching among others. Speakers from top corporates across the country will be addressing the participants and guiding them towards preparing Business Proposal. Motivational Talks by various start-up founders especially from SIH alumni has been organised to inspire participants especially from J&K and Ladakh for Entrepreneurial Career.

On the final day of the event student teams will pitch their innovations in front of expert panels consisting of startup founders, incubators, IP experts, angel Investors and VC’s and knowledge agencies. The programme will be centrally inaugurated by the Ministry of Education at 9 am on Jan.24.
