March 20, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: The family members of a brain-dead man, have donated his organs, saving the lives of five people.

M. Anil Kumar (38), a resident of Nazarbad had sustained serious head injuries in the road accident near Parasaiahnahundi on Mysuru-H.D. Kote Road and was admitted to a private hospital in city. As there were no improvements in his health condition, the family members of Anil shifted him to Apollo BGS Hospital on Mar. 14, where the doctors  began to treat him.

But on Mar. 17, Anil’s brain stopped functioning following which the doctors counselled Anil’s family members and advised them to donate his organs following which they (Anil family members) gave their consent to donate his organs.

The doctors then harvested Anil’s two kidneys, liver and corneas and sent them to the patients waiting for organ transplantations.
