Mysore: More than 3,000 students from several districts of Mysuru region appeared for the NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test)-2019 for admission to MBBS/ BDS courses, that began at 29 Centres across the city this morning.
The NEET is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) simultaneously across the country for admission to undergraduate courses in Medicine and Dentistry (MBBS/ BDS) in Medical/ Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India.
The three-hour test, which commenced at 2 pm, concludes at 5 pm. The students were supposed to be present at their centre by 1.15 pm.
Over 3,000 students from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts have preferred centres in Mysuru city, according to sources. NEET consists of 3 papers — Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with 45 marks each for Physics and Chemistry and 90 marks for Biology.
The NEET is conducted in 11 languages — Hindi, Urdu, English, Bengali, Marati, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya and Gujarati and the students can write the exam in any of the vernacular languages which they have chosen while applying.
Over 15 lakh students in the country had registered for the Test at centres spread across in their respective State.
In Karnataka, the centres are at Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Dharwad, Hubballi, Davanagere, Mangaluru and Udupi.
