Swimmer Nyra Bopanna Kalengada, who represented Karnataka at the SFI National Swimming Championship 2024-25 held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, recently, has won the bronze medal in the 100 mts backstroke event. She is the daughter of Kalengada Bopanna and Nirala couple, long time residents of Mysuru, now settled in Bengaluru.
Chikkathayamma (50), a resident of N.R. Mohalla, passed away yesterday in city. She leaves behind two daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were held at N.R. Mohalla Burial Grounds yesterday afternoon, according to family sources.

T.S. Venkataraman (88), a cooking contractor and a resident of J.P. Nagar, passed away here this morning following a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife Premaleela, daughter Kala, sons Nagarajan & Shyam Sundar and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were performed in city this afternoon, according to family sources.
