Vidu. H.S. Mahalakshmi (86), a renowned Karnatak music vocalist and a resident of Siddarthanagar, passed away yesterday morning in city following a heart attack. A spinster, she leaves behind her family members, relatives, friends and a host of students. Last rites were performed at the foot of Chamundi Hill yesterday evening.

C. Mahendra has been awarded Ph.D in Botany by the University of Mysore (UoM) for his thesis ‘Bioprospecting and Micro-propagation of Xanthophyllum flavescens Roxb and Salacia macrosperma Wight – Endangered medicinal plants of Western Ghats’ submitted under the guidance of Dr. Shobha Jagannath.
