Pathetic condition of public toilets at Chamundi Vihar Stadium

February 7, 2018

Mysuru: Broken pipes, leaking water pipes, foul smell and unhygienic atmosphere greets the public who enter the public toilet room at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad here.

The stench emanating from the toilets located near the entrance to the ground makes people passing by it, to cover their noses. Also, the entire area inside the toilet room is wet with water leaking from the pipes and the space clearly flouts even the basic norms of hygiene causing a lot of problems to the public and also to the athletes, who come to take part in various sports competitions, to relieve themselves.

Though there are separate toilet blocks for men and women, both of them are not maintained properly and there are no signs of cleanliness in them.

On Monday, more than a thousand school children from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu, who had come to participate in the Mysuru Division-level Sports Meet, suffered a lot due to the badly maintained toilets in the Stadium.

With the toilets in unhygienic condition and without proper water supply, boys were seen relieving themselves in the open while the girls suffered a lot as the toilets were not usable and there were no bolts to lock the toilets from inside.

The students were heard cursing the officials for the hardships caused to them.

With more and more sports events taking place in the Chamundi Vihar Stadium, authorities concerned should take steps to maintain the toilets which is one of the basic facilities so that the public and the visiting athletes feel safe to use them.
