Mysuru: ‘Plastination’ specialist and Professor of Anatomy, JSS University Dr. N.M. Shama Sundar has been conferred the ‘Vishwa Manava’ award by the Karnataka Saamskruthika Parishat.
He is one of the 25 recipients who received the award at Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Bengaluru recently.
Dr. Shama Sunder, who was the former Head of Department of Anatomy and former Dean of Bio Medical Sciences, is the Secretary of JSS Body Donation Association. More than 4,000 people have registered to donate their bodies for Medical Research, Training and Teaching. 380 bodies have already been received at the Hospital.
He is the first person in the country (2nd in the world) to design new technique of preservation of specimens called “Plastination.” He is having Family Practice at a Mini Clinic in Siddarthanagar, since 35 years charging only Rs.10 (including medicines).
Nominated to National Board of Examiners: Dr. Shama Sundar has been nominated from Karnataka to National Board of Examiners, New Delhi, as a Specialist Member, which takes care of Diplomate National Board (DNB) Course and Examinations of Speciality and Super-Speciality Medical Courses.
