Rape case against MLA Munirathna, six others

Bengaluru: BJP MLA Munirathna is embroiled in a new controversy, with a social worker filing an FIR against him on serious charges of rape, honey trapping, criminal intimidation and blackmail. This is the third FIR against him in recent months.

The latest FIR, lodged at the Kaggaliapura Police Station in Ramanagara district, includes severe allegations under Sections 354A, 354C, 376, 506, 504, 120(B), 149, 384, 406, and 308 of the Indian Penal Code.

The case alleges that the incident occurred at a private resort within the Kaggaliapura jurisdiction, where the FIR has been registered and is currently under investigation. According to the FIR, Munirathna and six accomplices are accused of recording private videos to honey trap and blackmail the social worker over an extended period.

Previously, he was arrested and remanded to judicial custody for two other FIRs that accused him of criminal intimidation, corruption and caste abuse.
