Rathnamma H.C. Basavanna (87), wife of late H.C. Basavanna, Founder-Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and Founder-Editor of Mahanandi Kannada Daily, passed away following brief illness yesterday in city.

A resident of Saraswathipuram, she leaves behind six children including JSS Printing Press Proprietor H.B. Shivakumar (Babu) and Gynaecologist Dr. Leelavathi, sons-in-law including Paediatrician Dr. S.S. Rajesh, retired Professor at JSS Prof. Subbappa and retired SJCE Professor Prof. Sadashivamurthy and grandchildren. Last rites were performed at the family’s farmland on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road this noon.
