Reject Sunil Bose’s papers for concealing marital info: BJP

April 6, 2024

Chamarajanagar: In a significant turn of events within the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha Constituency, BJP has formally complained to the District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner, Shilpa Nag, alleging discrepancies in the nomination filed by Congress candidate Sunil Bose.

Accusations have been made by BJP leaders, asserting that Bose submitted false affidavits, thereby misrepresenting his marital status. They have demanded the DEO to reject Bose’s nomination papers.

The complaint, submitted by Narayana Prasad, who also serves as the Election Agent for BJP candidate S. Balraj, contends that Bose deliberately omitted crucial details about his personal life in his nomination affidavit.

The crux of the complaint lies in column 26 of the affidavit, mandating the disclosure of marriage details and associated assets. Prasad’s petition asserts that Bose failed to disclose his marital status and the existence of a six-year-old daughter, both of which are deemed essential information according to election regulations.

According to BJP representatives, Bose’s affidavit claimed that he was unmarried and had no dependents. However, BJP officials argue that Bose’s claims lack substantiation, alleging that he is indeed married with a daughter.

Further evidence cited by the BJP includes photographs purportedly depicting Bose with his alleged family members and social media posts where Bose and his followers are seen with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Bose’s father Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and others at his residence during a dinner.

The omission of these critical familial details raises concerns regarding the transparency and completeness of Bose’s nomination filing, said Prasad asserting his willingness to face punishment if the information provided by him is proven false.

In response to the allegations, Bose has not issued an official statement. However, BJP has called for the rejection of Bose’s nomination papers, indicating that corrective action must be taken. As the controversy unfolds, all eyes remain on the Election Commission’s decision regarding Bose’s nomination papers, with the incident casting a shadow over the electoral landscape.
