May 25, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Kaveri  Vivaada – Ondu Aithihaasika Hinnota,’ a Kannada book authored by retired IPS Officer C. Chandrashekar, will be released tomorrow (May 26) at 10.30 am at the auditorium of Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road in the city.

The English version of the book titled ‘Kaveri Dispute – A Historical Perspective’ authored by Chandrashekar himself, has been already released.

Prof. V.K. Nataraj, former Director, Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai, humourist Prof. M. Krishnegowda,  retired Prof. P.V. Nanjaraje Urs and others will be participating in the book release event.

Chandrashekar, who had also served as the Mysuru City Police Commissioner, has extensively studied about the dispute from different angles like — Why Kaveri (Cauvery) dispute still remains a burning issue with solution eluding the same from several centuries? Even as the legal luminaries were roped in by the successive Governments to argue the case, why State suffered a setback? Why the judgments issued so far in relation to the dispute are largely in favour of Tamil Nadu? What is judicious share of State in Kaveri river water?

Chandrashekar had served in the Intelligence Wing of the Police where he got access to the documents related to the dispute, that came in handy to dig deep into the long standing dispute and had also submitted a special report to the Government. Even after his transfer from the Intelligence Wing, he had continued to study about the dispute, developing his own insights on the same.
