To travel from Mysuru to Kodagu on Nov. 19

Mysore/Mysuru: Jeeva Raksha Trust in association with Rotary Mysore and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) has organised Jeeva Rakshaka Road Safety Bikeathon-2022 on Nov. 18, 19 and 20, said Rotary Mysore President Rtn. S. Subramanyarao.

Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Subramanyarao said that the Bikeathon has been organised to create awareness on road safety. “The event was started in 2018. This time it will be held in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kodagu and Mangaluru regions,” he added.

On Nov. 18 at 7.30 am, the bikeathon will be flagged off by National Health Mission Director Dr. Arundathi Chandrashekar in front of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and will reach Dayanand Sagar University in Bengaluru at 9 am where a flash mob and awareness programme on road safety will be held, he said.

The bikeathon will reach Mysuru at 6.30 pm and a campfire has been organised at Backyard Restaurant.

On Nov. 19 at 7.30 am, an awareness programme will be held at St. Joseph’s Nursing College premises and at 8 am, the bikeathon will be flagged off to further destinations in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple by DCP M.S. Geetha Prasanna, Subramanyarao said and added that members of various riding clubs in Mysuru will join the bikeathon.

In the same time, members of Rotary and Rotract Clubs and a team of doctors from Mangaluru will hold a bikeathon and will arrive at Madikeri town in Kodagu. The bikeathon will reach Gonikoppa at 11 am and at 12.30 pm, the bikers will reach the Rotary School at Virajpet where a street play on road safety will be staged. At 3.30 pm, awareness on road safety will be conducted at the Old Bus Stand in Madikeri.

On Nov. 20 at 9.30 am, the bikeathon will leave Madikeri and will arrive at Kushalnagar at 12.30 pm, where an awareness event on road safety will be held.

The bikeathon will leave Kushalnagar and will culminate at Mysuru, Subramanyarao said.

He further said that 200 bikers have already registered to take part in the bikeathon by paying a registration fee of Rs. 200 each and added that those interested to take part in the bikeathon may register their names before 5 pm on Nov. 16 by calling R.K. Nikhil on Mob: 77609-38873.

Rotary Mysore Past President S. Manjeshkumar, SVYM CEO Dr. Kumar, Jeeva Raksha Trust’s Mysuru branch head Dr. Rekha Shanmukha, Rotary members R.K. Nikhil and Praveen were present at the press meet.
