Roof-tops blown away, cow succumbs to lightning in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar: The rooftops of nearly four houses were blown away following heavy rains accompanied by storm in the taluk’s Bhogapura and surrounding areas.

Due to the storm, the roof tops of the houses belonging to Govindaraju, Guruswamy, sweeper Rangamma and Seshacharya were blown away and a cow belonging to Basava Shetty died due to lightning.

More than thousand plantain crops that farmer Siddarajegowda of Doddarayapete had grown in his land were uprooted. The crop which had come for harvesting was destroyed resulting in loss of thousands of rupees to the farmer. Gram Panchayat Members Nataraju and Stalin have urged the officials concerned to visit the four houses of the affected families and give them compensation.
