Mysore/Mysuru: In order to sensitise people on the importance of eye donation, Rotary Panchsheel Mysore, in association with Rotary Mysore, Rotary International District 3181 (Zone 7&8) and Rotary Avoidable Blindness Foundation, had organised ‘Andha Nadige’ (Blind Walk), an eye donation awareness campaign in city this morning.
The walk, in which several participants marched blindfolded, began from the old Deputy Commissioner’s Office at about 7 am and culminated at the Rotary Mysore Centre, opposite MUDA on JLB Road.
The event also created awareness among the general public on the challenges faced by the visually impaired in their life and livelihood.
Government School for the Blind, Mysuru Superintendent K. Satish, Prof. Krishna, Head of the Department of Studies in Political Science, University of Mysore, Ophthalmologists Dr. Ganeshan and Dr. Vagh, Rotary District Governor H.R. Keshav, Rotary Mysore Brindavan President Dharmananda, Rotary Panchsheel Mysuru President Kiran Robert, Rotary Stars President Santosh Gowda, Eye donation activist Madhugiri Latha Narayan and others were present.
Later, a stage programme was held at Rotary Mysore Centre auditorium where the speakers stressed on the importance of eye donation.
