Mysuru: Karnataka State Savitha Samaja, Mysuru, has organised the birth anniversary celebration of former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur (24 January 1924 – 17 February 1988) and installation ceremony of its District Executive Committee on Jan.29 (Tuesday) at 10.30 am at Hotel Govardhan in city.
MLA Tanveer Sait will inaugurate the event. Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath will offer floral tributes to the portrait of Karpoori Thakur, who was known as the Jan Nayak and considered as the champion of OBC rights. He was also one of the prominent faces of the erstwhile Janata Party.
M.B.A. College President and M.B.S. White Palace Owner M.B. Shivakumar will be the main speaker. Kayaka Samaja District President and former MLC Puttasiddashety will distribute ID cards. Actor and former Compost Development Corporation Vice-Chairman Muthuraj will distribute appointment letters. Savitha Samaja District President N.R. Nagesh will deliver the introductory address.
Savitha Keshalankarigala (Hairdressers) Sangha President V. Manjunath, Hon. President Ramprakash, City President of Savitha Samaja V. Rajkumar and City General Secretary of the Samaja Harish will be the chief guests. Former Minister C.H. Vijayashankar will preside, according to a press release.
