Mysuru: The Search Committee headed by former VTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.P. Kincha to select the 25th VC for University of Mysore (UoM), which met on Mar.3 in Bengaluru, seems to be divided in its opinion of finding three names to recommend to the Governor for finalising the name.
According to sources, one of the members said that the three names — Prof. N.S. Ashok Kumar of Mass Communication and Journalism, Bangalore University, Prof. R.K. Somashekar of Department of Environmental Science, Bangalore University and Prof. C.P. Siddashrama from the Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies — which had been short-listed have been sent to the Government.
However, another member said that if the Government wants a fresh list, then they would recommend calling for notification and fresh applications and the Search Committee would meet within a month and finalise three names to be sent to the Governor and a letter in this regard has been sent to the Chief Minister’s office.
It may be recalled that Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala had sent back the names recommended by the State Government for University of Mysore and Bangalore University asking them to send fresh names some time back.
