Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its annual activities, the Elder Citizens Council and Trust, Jayalakshmipuram, celebrated Founders’ Day by felicitating five elderly citizens amongst its members.
Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Mysore University, who was the chief guest, feted Dr. C.G. Narasimhan, noted Surgeon of Mysuru; H.R. Sundareshan, Retired Regional Manager of erstwhile State Bank of Mysore; Parvez E. Rudina, a builder; M.B. Srinivas, a Retired Officer from Forest Department and Krishnamurthy Naidu, a Retired Engineer from PWD.
Dr. P. Giri Gowda, Retired Joint Director from Horticulture Department, inaugurated the function. In his inaugural address, Dr. Giri Gowda, citing the simplicity and morality in life as practised by late leaders Hanumanthaiah and Nijalingappa, he called upon members to emulate their way of life and be models to youngsters in the current lifestyle.
Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar requested the elder citizens to allow their children to go for higher education and give freedom to choose their careers instead of restricting them to be with them.
S.V. Gowdappa, Chairman, Elder Citizens Council Trust, presided. Venkateshaiah, Committee member, explained the various activities the Elder Citizens Council and Trust have been undertaking for the development of society, in particular, the Senior Citizens Welfare which include monthly lectures from eminent citizens on Budget discussions, Health care, Yoga practices for Ideal health, Health camps etc.,
K.S. Krishna proposed a vote of thanks. Other members present included Krishnappa Gowda, K.V. Ramanath, Dr. N.K. Ramachandre Gowda, Susheela Marigowda, Dr. H.M. Nagaraj, Venkata Narasimhachar, C.S. Nagesh, Latha and N. Nanje Gowda .
AGM: The Elder Citizens Council conducted its AGM for 2020-21 preceding the above function. Krishnapa Gowda, President of the Council, presided. Secretary Ramanath and Treasurer P.B. Ramanna, presented the annual reports.
