Mysuru: Even as Siddharamaiah Government is tom-tomming its achievements and people have gathered in large numbers at the Maharaja’s College Grounds, to participate, students writing the exams have been put to great deal of inconvenience. What one needs when writing exams is a clear mind but unfortunately for the students of Physical Education Department and Maharaja’s College, the exam centres are right next to the venue where the mega event is taking place. The loud music and noise created by the loudspeakers and people speaking in high decibels, is causing a lot of disturbance to them, to write the exams.
The Head of the Physical Education Department called the organisers to at least, lower the volume of the speakers but it was in vain. The students were seen struggling to reach the examination venue on time but failed due to the heavy rush. As a result, the examination began ten minutes late.
Meanwhile, a student of Maharaja’s College J.Sagar who had just finished writing his final year Geography exam, speaking to Star of Mysore said, “Sir, it was very difficult for me to concentrate and write the exam with so much of noise in the background. I am sure all other students are in a similar predicament. Is the government’s celebration more important than the students’ interest?” he asked caustically.
Traffic Jam
All roads were leading to the Maharaja’s College as buses both government and private were seen dropping people at various Circles where the Police had put barricades. They had a tough time controlling the traffic. As we were going to the press, people were still seen getting down at Ramaswamy Circle, behind DC Office, RTO Circle to name a few and making their way on foot to the venue.
People from all the four directions, north, south, east and west — Bengaluru, H.D. Kote, T. Narasipura, Hunsur — it was endless as they kept coming. There were also many who were on a shopping spree in city.
