Spirituality, discipline and unity are crucial for pupils: Col. Rohit Thakur

April 25, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: “Youths, who have a vital role to play in their life, must develop their personalities in a variety of domains in order to build the nation.

For NCC Cadets discipline, togetherness and spiritual consciousness are paramount. Knowing oneself spiritually can help one to understand what is right and wrong in life,” said Col. Rohit Thakur, Group Commander, NCC Mysore Division.

He was addressing the Cadets at a function organised by Suttur Mutt and JSS Mahavidyapeetha on Apr. 20 to felicitate NCC Cadets who took part in the Republic Day 2024, Thal Sainik, Vayu Sainik and Nav Sainik Camps.

In all, 22 Cadets have participated in Republic Day Camp in Delhi, 16 boys and 22 girls in Thal Sainik Camp, 6 Cadets in Nav Sainik Camp and 3 Cadets in Vayu Sainik Camp.

Col. Rohit Thakur said that a country is being built by the elders’ efforts. Young people and NCC Cadets have to realise those efforts and should consider the next stages in creating a strong country. Only patriotism can ensure the security of this nation. However, it is paradoxical that fewer people are enlisting in the army these days. So, young people have to come forward to join the army to protect the nation, he stated.

Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji said: “The NCC is the best organisation for instilling discipline and patriotism in students. It naturally leads to a sense of reverence and loyalty to the nation. Students at all levels have engaged in active learning, achieved success, acquired unique experience and self-assurance in NCC. The pupils are to be inspired by these aspects. They should acquire excellent national and educational standards and thus to contribute to have enormous spiritual wealth. Spirituality in the religion of every family will bring in success when moved in spiritual manner.”

Chief Executive of JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah said: “Suttur Mutt is working hard for the betterment of society on many fronts. With the continuous efforts and blessings of the Seer, JSS Mahavidyapeetha is continuously rendering services in various fields such as social, religious, educational and health. This programme is being organised every year since 2022 to encourage NCC Cadets who take part in various camps.”
