The 7th edition of the book ‘Geetamruta Vahini,’ authored by Dr. Bellipadi Satish Rai, was released at a programme at Nadamantapa in Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama premises here yesterday. The programme was organised under the aegis of Bellipadi Yaksha Samskruthika Trust.

Speaking after releasing the book, Avadhoota Datta Peetham Founder Pontiff Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji opined that historical & spiritual texts and treatises must be published in Kannada for wider reach and acceptability. If available in local languages, these books will help spread values and at the same time will develop the language, he said.

Kannada has its own history and beauty and efforts must be on to translate a wide variety of books into Kannada so that the language is strengthened, the Swamiji said and praised the efforts of Dr. Bellipadi Satish Rai in translating the shlokas in a simple manner so that it could be understood by one and all. He added that such translated works must be made available to students so that they can learn moral values at a young age.

Narrating his experiences with Bhagavad Gita, Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji said that he loved the shlokas since a young age but he never recited them. “Swamy Chinmayananda who came to Mysuru told me that singing shlokas will attract more people. I followed this and was able to reach a wide   audience,” he said.

Kannada scholar Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Shastry, who presided over the book release event, too lauded the efforts of Dr. Bellipadi Satish Rai.

T.S. Chayapati of Talukina Venkannaiah Smaraka Grantha Male, Bellipadi Yaksha Samskruthika Trust President and author Dr. Bellipadi Satish Rai, Trust Vice-President Dr. Bellipadi Shyam Prasad Shetty and Secretary Karija Jagadish Hebbar were present.
