Prevent ‘dogs dinner’ menace
Sir,
Mysureans, who are increasingly responding to the call for swachchata in the city, are finding it difficult to counter situations like the ones in the photo above. Reasons: First, MCC is finding it difficult to control the ever-increasing population of street dogs in the city for reasons known to everybody — objections from animal-lovers and absence of strict laws for elimination.
Secondly, throwing of household wet waste containing food articles by some irresponsible citizens at street corners. Since dogs also want to eat and live, some of them carry such packets away from the dumps, open, spread, eat what is palatable and leave the rest since they are not governed by swachchata manners.
If we have to counter this ‘dogs dinner’ menace, Pourakarmikas/ Health Inspectors of MCC must identify chronic spots, be on prowl, also use visuals captured through CCTVs around, watch for people who are habituated in throwing wastes in street corners, book them with heavy fines, get their identity, photo and print in local newspapers and put them to shame.
