Storm water drain construction on N.S. Road causing traffic congestion

May 27, 2018

Mysuru:  The works on the storm water drains opposite Sri Raghavendra Swamy Temple on Narayana Shastry (N.S.) Road, one of the busiest roads in the city, is causing traffic congestion and leading to frequent brawls among the motorists.

The work which began more than a month ago is going on at a snail’s pace. First 25 percent of the work was completed and cleared for traffic.

This is a very narrow stretch for the traffic to flow even as the work is going on in the remaining part.

As this stretch is in the heart of the city, the traffic from Chamaraja Double Road, Devaraj Urs Road and other connecting roads jostle for space on this Narayana Shastry Road.

Since there is very little space, the traffic gets jammed and as every motorist is in a hurry, tempers get frayed resulting in  heated arguments.

This road comes under Ward No. 36 of the MCC and the Corporator and the officials connected with this Ward are urged to complete the work at the earliest so that traffic movement is back to normal, say the residents.

Traffic Diversion

On account of the ongoing developmental works on Mysuru-Mahadevapura Road (Azeez Sait Road), the City Police have banned vehicular movement on the northward stretch of the road from Samosa Corner junction to Gandhinagar Cross on Mysuru-Mahadevapura Road with immediate effect.

However, the southward stretch of the road has been converted into a two-way for vehicular traffic, according to a press release issued by the office of the city Police  Commissioner.
