Prizes distributed to winners of painting competition

Mysore/Mysuru: “Urban students have no idea about why parks are constructed and the types of plants and trees that are grown in the park,” regretted former Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H.V. Rajeev.

He was speaking after giving away certificates for winners of painting competition, organised  by H.V. Rajeev Sneha Balaga with the theme ‘Makkala Dinacharane and Lakshavruksha Andolana’ at Suma Sopana Park on Vishwamanava Double Road in city recently. “Thousands died during COVID pandemic because of lack of oxygen. People believe that by walking on the roof of their houses they can breathe clean air which is not correct. Hence, every student should cultivate the habit of loving plants, trees and nature. Parents also should take interest to ensure that their children are fond of trees and nature,” he added.

Observing that by holding painting competitions in parks,  children will get to know more about ornamental plants, gym equipment and children’s sports materials, Rajeev said that this will encourage children to learn about the usage of the park.

Prize winners of the painting competition are as follows:

1st prize – K. Abhinjana (Rs. 3,000); 2nd prize – Sriskanda R. Acharya (Rs. 2,000); 3rd prize – Abhi (Rs. 1,000).
