Mysuru: In an effort to create awareness on ill-effects of plastic, SDM Women’s College took out an awareness jatha through the main thoroughfares of city yesterday. Inaugurating the jatha, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that there was need to create awareness as the use of the plastic was harmful to health.
MCC has roped in Javagal Srinath as the cleanliness ambassador and he would be participating in awareness programmes organised by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).
Jagadeesha also expressed that despite plastic being completely banned in Mysuru, people were still using them. Stating that Mysuru had more than 400 parks, he said that around 80 parks were under the MCC and added that soon a programme to plant saplings would be taken up at all parks.
