Teacher sustains serious head injuries after part of ceiling falls

Mysore/Mysuru: An assistant teacher sustained serious head injuries after a part of the ceiling of the classroom, which was in a dilapidated condition fell on her head.

The incident took place at the Govt. Higher Primary School in Kanakagiri here yesterday.

Yesterday, assistant teacher Sowmya was taking class for third stand students, when she saw the part of the ceiling collapsing. She immediately moved the children to safety, thus saving them but a part of the ceiling fell on her head injuring her seriously.

Meanwhile, students, parents and public alleged that though there is a new building facility, Head Mistress Jayalakshmi was getting the classes conducted in the old and dilapidated building and held the her responsible for the incident. They have urged the BEO to look into the matter and take action.
