Mysuru: A three-day International Conference on ‘School Psychology,’ organised jointly by the DoS in Psychology, University of Mysore and Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA), Puducherry, commenced this morning at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri here with a theme ‘School counselling and skill development.’
About 50 Professors of Psychology from Mysuru, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Bengaluru are attending the Conference along with hundreds of students from schools in city.
Inaugurating the Conference, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University Prof. Dayananda Mane opined that along with Science and Technology, the students should be groomed on peace and harmony for true development of the country.
He contended that a good bondage between teacher and students was vital for better communication and learning. He sought quality and value-based education at all levels. He observed that the behaviour of parents gets reflected on their children. He asked students to pursue education with career as goal and not just money.
G.P. Thakur, former Chairman, InSPA, New Delhi and D. Nanjundaiah, Syndicate Member, University of Mysore, released the Conference commemorative volume.
G.Mukhopadhyaya, Chairman, InSPA, Chennai, who was the chief guest spoke on the scope and working of InSPA.
