Thrilling tabla & soulful vocal recitals at Ganabharathi in city on May 4

Mysuru: Gayana Sabha, Mysuru, has organised a Tabla Solo performance by Pandit Avinash Mulye Patil from Pune and Hindustani Vocal Recital by Vidushi Shrimathi Devi from Mysuru, on May 4 at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Ganabharathi, starting at 5.30 pm.

Deepak Nagannavar will provide Lehra support to Pt. Avinash, while Sathish Bhat Heggara supports Shrimathi Devi   on harmonium.

Pandit Avinash Mulye Patil, 35, started training in Tabla at a very young age of five with his father Pt. Pramod Patil, and later under the scholarly guidance of Pt. Umesh Moghe, in Delhi, Airada, Lucknow and Farukhabad traditions. The style of performance of Pt. Avinash is essentially a blend of all  these gharanas.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Music with a gold medal from Pune University, and has also completed Sangeet Alankar from Gandharva Mahamandala, Miraj.

Pt. Avinash has performed at prestigious venues in major cities of India, and also in UAE. Some of his performances include Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav, Pune; ITC-SRA, Kolkota; Pt. Jeetendra Abhisheki Mahotsav, Pune; United Peace Federation, Delhi; Doordarshan and many more.

Pt. Avinash has won many awards and honours from prestigious institutions. To name a few — Best Tabla Performer Award, Swami Vivekananda Award, Rashtra Gaurav Puraskar, State Level Best Tabla Performer and Rashtra Gaurav Puraskar.

He has provided Tabla support to galaxy of famous and renowned masters of classical music which include Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, Pt. Ronu Majumadar, Pt. Jayatheertha Mevundi, Pt. Rajan and Pt. Sajan Mishra and the list is long.

Vidushi Shrimathi Devi is no stranger in the art circles of Mysuru. Being a resident of the city, she has enthralled the music connoisseurs with her soulful renderings of Hindustani music. Having been trained by Pt. Chandrashekhara Puranikmath, the famous vocalist of Gwalior Gharana in Dharwad, Shrimathi Devi brings out very effectively the beauty and intricacies of the Gharana.

Subsequent training under Vidu. Padma Talwalkar and Pt. Vyasamurthy Katti further enhanced her ability to develop her own unique style of presentation.

Vidu. Shrimathi secured first rank in Sangeetha Alankara Examination conducted by Gandharva Mahamandala, Miraj. She has also completed Sangeetha Visharada, and holds Master’s Degree in English literature.

Vidu. Shrimathi has won many prestigious awards and accolades — Won 2nd prize in All India AIR Music Competitions in Hindustani Vocal; Recipient of Scholarship by Govt. of India; Tamankar award; Vamanadaji Shastriya Sangeeth Puraskar, Maharashtra; 2nd prize in Govinda Rao Gune Smrithi Khyal competition, Kolhapur. She is also a B-high grade artiste of AIR in classical vocal and light music genres.

She has performed at major music centres of Karnataka and Maharashtra, and also in USA.
