Mysore/Mysuru: In yet another effort to mobilise funds, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has launched a Mobile Trade Licence renewal drive.
Yesterday, the MCC’s Zone-3 officials led by Zonal Commissioner T.S. Satyamurthy, carried out the drive at Dattagalli, collecting Rs. 1.28 lakh from shops in about ten commercial complexes. The officials also shut down three shops for failure to pay tax dues.
Speaking on the occasion, Satyamurthy said that following directions from MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hedge, the Trade Licence issuance and renewal drive has been launched. Although commercial establishments were issued notice a month ago for renewal of trade licence, they neglected it.
During the drive, it was discovered that some shops have been running business without any trade licence for over three years and now, the licence fee, along with penalty, has been collected from them, he said.
Pointing out that Rs. 1.87 lakh was collected during the drive on Wednesday, Satyamurthy said that Friday’s collection was Rs. 1.28 lakh.
Noting that Rs.44 lakh has been collected so far this year, he said that the Zone has set a target of Rs. 1 crore and efforts were on to achieve the target by the end of this financial year.
Zonal Engineers Anant, Chetan Babu and Srikanth, Health Inspectors Prabhakar, Prakash and others took part in the drive.
