Twin music events on Sunday at Vasudevacharya’s House

Mysore/Mysuru: The residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya in the city is hosting two music programmes on Feb. 8 at 10.30 am.

Pradyumna Bhat, a promising young musician now settled in Bengaluru, will be presenting a vocal concert.

He will be accompanied by Vid. Rupanagudi Ratnateja on violin and Vid. Pranav Subramanya on mridanga.

The day’s evening will see the Aradhana Mahotsava of Sri Purandaradasa and Saint Thyagaraja, being organised by the well-known music teacher in the city Vidu. M.L. Bharati and her students. This programme is to begin at 4.30 pm. Both the programmes are open to all music lovers. The Acharya’s residence is located near Basaveshwara Circle on New Sayyaji Rao Road.

 Profiles

Pradyumna, now 16, has learnt under Vid. AVS Sundararajan in Kuala Lumpur, Vidu. Vinaya Karthik Rao from Bengaluru and is currently under Vid. Aneesh V. Bhat.

He has participated in various international Karnatak Vocal Music competitions and won accolades. Pradyumna has given several concerts in prestigious Sabhas in India and abroad.

He has been honoured with the title “Sangeet Yuva Samrat” by Sruti Laya Gaana Vidyalaya, Kuala Lumpur in 2024.

Vid. Ratna Teja, a student of Dr. Mysore Manjunath and Vid. Pranav, a student of Vid. H.L. Shivashankar and Vid. H.S. Sudheendra, are both young and highly promising accompanists, with significant stage experience.

Vidu. Bharati is among the city’s senior-most music teachers. A student of Asthana Vidwan  B. Shivappa, she is an M. Music degree holder from the University Fine Arts College, Mysuru. In her career spanning nearly six decades, she has trained hundreds of students, many of whom have strived to carry forward the traditions of Karnatak music and Indian culture.
