Universities have failed in keeping with changing technology: Ex-ISRO Chief Dr. Madhavan Nair

Mysuru: Regretting that Universities have failed in keeping with fast changing technology, former ISRO Chief Dr. Madhavan Nair called upon the students to study continuously in order to keep pace with advancements in Science and Technology.

He was speaking on the second day of the 3-day Rotary District 3181 Conference at USA farm in R.T.Nagar on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

Maintaining that it is the primary responsibility of the Universities to provide a conducive atmosphere for students to carry out unhindered studies, Dr. Nair regretted that Universities have failed to do so. Pointing out that there are more than 350 Universities in the country, he said the curriculum in Varsities should match with the advancements in Science         and Technology.

Asserting that India stands alongside with western countries regarding space technology and research, he said that every component in our satellites is made in India, which we should be proud of.

Basava Samithi President Aravind Jatti, who also took part, said that it is important for everyone to understand themselves first. Our life can become fruitful only when we do so, he said and added that we must shun arrogance for the sake of our own good. Asserting that values are more important than norms, he opined that we should always adhere to virtues in life.
