Bengaluru: Good news for students studying under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in colleges affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).
The VTU has decided to revise the revaluation rules and this will be applicable to both undergraduate and post-graduate courses. This will be effective for June-July 2017 examinations.
As per the revised rules, if a candidate fails or gets less marks after revaluation, the University will consider the highest marks between the two — first evaluation and revaluation. According to VTU authorities, the rules were revised after they found out that the students lost more marks or failed after revaluation.
VTU Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. Satish Annigeri said, “The decision was taken during the Board of Studies meeting held a month ago. The new rules will be applicable even for the exams held in June-July 2017, for which the revaluation applications will be invited from Sept. 7.” Earlier, VTU used to consider only revaluation result.
The changes: If marks after revaluation is lesser than the marks awarded during first evaluation, the original marks will be retained. If a student gets more than 15 marks during revaluation, then the paper will be evaluated by a third evaluator. After this, the final marks will be awarded considering the average of the nearest two highest marks.
It may be recalled, VTU Students’ Struggle Committee and All India Democratic Students’ Organisation had staged a protest on Sept.1 urging the VTU authorities to conduct supplementary exams for CBCS students and re-introduction of carry-over system.
Hi,I failed in 2subjects in tat one subject is mine critical subject. For tat one subject I m got year back. For tat one subject I m loosing my carrier . please cancel year back or cancel critical subject. It’s helpful all students carrier.
First , learn to write english properly. Learn Kannada also.
then you can become a engineer.
Really a good student due to some circumstances wouldn’t have done well, the critical subject and would have failed, that does not mean that student is incapable and sit back a year, jeopardizing his /her career and life. Out of 36 subjects which is done very well once Subject can’t they overlook and give some lenient evaluation and pass, or giving a chance to enter the 7th semester. It’s utter nonsense making a student sit back for a single paper due to some reason didn’t clear the 3rd semester critical subject. I hope that the year back system will be canceled and the university will not be in any way spoiling the future of the students and writing of critical subject is allowed for student who has not completed during 3rd semester and to enter the 7th semester without heart back and writing the critical subject and or else to consider the student marks in the 35 unfailed subjects and being lenient only in cases of critical single subject and passing them in that.
Pls provide supplementory exams for cbcs scheme
Don’t play with our career’s
At least increase the subject for year back instead of 4 subject make it 6 subject it may save so many life of students and even their careers and leave the reevaluation result faster
Yearback system is really cruel, I think this system should be scraped.
