Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be presenting two vocal concerts during this weekend.

On Saturday, 23rd July, Vid. Hemmige S. Prashanth will present a vocal concert at Mysuru K. Vasudevacharya Bhavana, Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha premises on JLB Road, at 6 pm.  He will be accompanied by Vidu. Dr. Veena Suesh on violin, Vid. Anirudh Bhat on mridanga and Vid. V.S.Ramesh on morching.

On Sunday, 24th July, Vidu. Aathreyee Krishna will render a vocal concert at 6 pm at Sri Ramamandira, Jayanagar. She will be supported by Vidu. Prithvi Bhaskar on violin, Vid. Nandan Kashyap on mridanga and Vid. Shamith S. Gowda on ghata. 

Profile: Vidwan Hemmige S. Prashanth is known for his impressive performances, with adherence to tradition. He is a disciple of renowned guru, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy and Vidu. Padma Narayanaswamy. 

Prashanth has performed in several prestigious sabhas and earned admirations from rasikas, scholars and critics alike. He is the recipient of many awards and recognitions including Gana Kala Ratna, M. L. Vasanthakumari Endowment prize and Asthana Vidwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.

Vidushi Aathreyee Krishna is a multi-talented artiste hailing from Karkala. She started her musical training under the guidance of Vidu. Uma Udayashankar, Parkala, Vid. Yathiraja Acharya and presently undergoing higher training under the tutelage of Vid. R.K. Sreeramkumar and Vidu. Amritha Murali, Chennai.

A recipient of CCRT and Sangeetha Nrithya Academy scholarships, she was also a finalist in ‘Nadayatra’ competition of Shankara TV, besides bagging many prizes. She has performed in Rajaghat, on Gandhi Jayanthi day in 2018 in the presence of President and Prime Minister of India.

All music-lovers are requested to attend the concert, according to  Vid. H. K. Narasimhamurthy, Vice-President of the Sabha.

Swarasankula Sangeetha Sabha

Swarasankula Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, has organised a Hindustani Classical Music Concert by Srividya Jois at Veene Seshanna Bhavan, Kuvempunagar on July 23 at 6 pm. She will  be accompanied by Pt. Gurumurthy Vaidya on tabla and Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium.

Profile

Srividya Jois, Hindustani classical vocalist and a Chartered Accountant from Bengaluru, was born into a musical family.  From the tender age of six, she was fortunate enough to have received training for 12 years, under the tutelage of Pt. Rama Rao V. Naik, a stalwart of Agra Gharana. Later, she was under the guidance of Pt. Indudhar Nirody during her college days.

From past 11 years, she has been under the tutelage of Pt. Sudhindra Bhaumik, Mumbai, who introduced her to different semi classical forms with its intricate nuances like Tappa, Thumri, Hori, Chaiti, Dadra, Bhajans along with Classical music taalim in Agra Gharana.

Srividya has performed for major music organisations like Sursagar, Hindustani Kalakar Mandali, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Canara Union, Indian Institute of World Culture, Karnataka CA fest at Bangalore, Swara Sankula at Mysore, Pt. G.S. Hegde Belikere Memorial concert at Sirsi. She has featured in DD music events and is a recipient of Musical Scholarships from Sursagar.

She has performed Khayal Sufi Jugalbandi at  Mysore Sampadaparshe that was a cultural fest comprising drama, folk dance, music, organised by theatre personality B. Jayashree.  A Chartered Accountant by qualification, Srividya has 18 years of work experience. Srividya, who resides at Bengaluru, is married to Pradeep  Ganesha and has a 11-year-old son Aditya.

 N.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha

N.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised a music concert in memory of Trust past President K.M. Sridharan at Sri Prasanna Mahaganapathi Temple on Shivaji Road in city on July 23 at 6.30 pm.

Vid. Manasa Nayana will present a vocal concert on the occasion. He will be accompanied by Vidu. Adithi Krishna Prakash on violin, Vid. Sai Shiv Lakshmikeshav on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata.
